Now Ramon y Cajal should really get jealous

Something that seemed nearly impossible one or two decades ago lives up to become a thriving field: human neuron and circuit neuroscience! This was proven by a meeting in Amsterdam, organized by Natalia Goriounova, Huib Mansvelder and Christiaan de Kock. About 130 people exchanged their latest findings, with highlights -as often these days- coming from the Allen Institute for Brain Science. The landscape of cortical neurons gets charted better and better, thanks to Patch-seq and other technical advantages like viral transduction of organotypic slices. Gabor Tamas even gave a prospect of what could be done in vivo and Javier de Felipe presented an outlook on dense connectomics, amongst many other excellent contributions.
